I am attaching a patch that proposes a change to the hive grammar for "DESCRIBE
TABLE".
The following is the new syntax
DESCRIBE TABLE [DB.]TABLE [ COLUMN]
where DB is the database identifier (DOT ends the name of the database)
TABLE is table identifier
COLUMN is either
column name
column.$elem$ // references the list for list datatypes
column.$elem$.<listMember> // references the member of the list
column.$key$ // references the key for map datatypes
column.$value$ // references the value for the map data types.
Please review the change and let me know.
