I haven't worked through how having one Hive instance attach to another would
work. I don't want to tie catalog and Thrift server 1-1, but we may find it
useful to scale the system by adding different metastore instances serving
distinct catalogs. When get to this part we'll need to look closely at the use
cases and then figure out the best way to do it.
