Did you try to ship the {{Either}} types as part of the user function? 
User function objects are serialized on the client with Java serialization to 
ship them to the worker nodes. Therefore, all members must be {{Serializable}}. 
Maybe you can declare these fields as {{transient}} and initialize them in the 
{{open()}} method.
