Etienne Chauchot commented on FLINK-16713:
------------------------------------------

I just wanted to mention that some big data users still use ES v5. We recently
did a survey in the Beam project to decide if we drop ES v2 support so we asked
among users what version of ES they use. The answer was that some still use ES
v5 even if most of them are in ES v6 and v7. That being said, ES v5.x is no
more maintained by elastic sine version 7.0.0 is out.

> Support source mode of elasticsearch connector

> For append-only queries, the connector can also operate in [append
> mode|https://ci.apache.org/projects/flink/flink-docs-release-1.10/dev/table/connect.html#update-modes]
> for exchanging only INSERT messages with the external system. If no key is
> defined by the query, a key is automatically generated by Elasticsearch.
> I want to know ,why the connector of flink with ES just support sink but
> doesn't support source .Which version could add this feature to ?
