Github user tillrohrmann commented on the pull request: https://github.com/apache/flink/pull/730#issuecomment-174940437 Hmm according to http://www.apache.org/legal/resolved.html#can-works-placed-in-the-public-domain-be-included-in-apache-products, it should be no problem to include work from the public domain in ASF products. They only have to be attributed accordingly. What we then would have to do is to simply exclude them from the checkstyle check. Alternatively, we could also write/generate our own poems which we put under the ASL.
