Currently {{add()}} has this signature:
{code}
void add(IN value, ACC accumulator);
{code}
meaning that a value can only be added to an accumulator by modifying the
accumulator. This should be extended to:
{code}
ACC add(IN value, ACC accumulator);
{code}
