Hi Ulrich,
the root objects are at the other end of those chains that hold those String
and xml Attributes.
But the heap that you attached shows only a few hundred megabytes, it may not
represent the real picture. I would check how they would grow to get an idea
about how the retrieved data is proportionally related to the data held in
memory.
But in any case, either you need to dig a little deeper to capture a clear
indication of an issue in CXF or provide us a test that we can run to
demonstrate the issue, I don't see any practical way of analyzing this issue.
