Good questions. Closing the input silently shouldn't be an issue. Issue is the 
implementation of the output may make use of some kind of buffering internally 
and a 'close' may trigger some kind of flushing which may produce an exception 
which shouldn't be suppressed. So when the 'close' of the output throws an 
exception I would expect the operation to have failed and would want that 
exception to be propagated to the caller.
