camel-jolt depends on com.bazaarvoice.jolt:jolt-core / json-utils 0.1.8. The
upstream project https://github.com/bazaarvoice/jolt is effectively
unmaintained: the last commit is from 2023-05-26 (the 0.1.8 release), no
releases since, and 400+ open issues.
A community fork exists at https://github.com/jolt-community/jolt-community
(Apache-2.0). It is actively maintained and released to Maven Central:
* groupId io.github.jolt-community.jolt, artifacts jolt-community-core and
json-community-utils
* releases 1.0.0 (Aug 2025), 1.1.0, 1.2.0 (Mar 2026), 1.3.0 (Aug 2026)
* jakarta.inject instead of javax.inject, bug fixes for longstanding issues,
new java enricher transform
* 1.3.0 uses Jackson 3 (tools.jackson.core); 1.2.0 is the last Jackson 2
release. Camel already has jackson3-version in parent/pom.xml so 1.3.0 is the
natural target.
Work:
* replace jolt-version / dependencies in parent/pom.xml and
components/camel-jolt/pom.xml
* update imports in camel-jolt (com.bazaarvoice.jolt.* ->
io.joltcommunity.jolt.*)
* the base package was renamed in the fork, so users who plug custom Transform
/ ContextualTransform classes into a Chainr spec must update their imports.
Document this in the upgrade guide (camel-4x-upgrade-guide-4_23.adoc) and the
camel-jolt component docs.
