Our friends in Apache Kudu expressed their interest in an integrated
Kudu+Impala verification process. Since Impala is a major client to Kudu, the
Kudu project wants to make sure that their upcoming changes don't break Impala,
or if/when they do, they at least discover this early in the process.
Apache Impala integrates Kudu via the {{native-toolchain}} project, where
Apache Impala dependencies are collected and precompiled to binary packages.
In the early days of the Kudu-to-Impala integration process a shortcut through
the toolchain-driven integration process was created, driven by the script
{{build-kudu-only.sh}}. This script fell into disuse and bitrotted. It should
be revived and updated to current conditions, so that its utility in a tighter
Kudu-with-Impala verification loop can be checked.
