We have discussed this on the list in the past, and it is past time,
IMHO, to tackle this.
First over in INTAREA there is workgroup adoption call for:
draft-moskowitz-intarea-schc-ip-protocol-number
This will assign an Internet Protocol Number to SCHC so it can be used
E2E, acting on the layer that is typically the IPv4 Protocol or IPv6
Next Header. I.E., in this case, ESP.
This can be used outside ESP, or inside ESP for tunnel mode. Though it
may be that the endpoints are using SCHC themselves!
Anyway, I am interested in working on updating diet-esp. I also think
that ike-diet-esp will need updates as well, but that I can only provide
comments.
