Hi Dwarka,
Thanks for the clarification. Your initial email didn't say anything about ASA so I'm glad to hear that we're all on the same page. Regarding feature development/priority for IoTivity (and SWG, CWG, etc.), I thought that direction was supposed to come from the Technology Planning TG (or whatever it will be called in the new organization structure). At least that's how it was explained to us. Maybe things will be better clarified as the new org structure is rolled out. Today's OSWG CC had OCF 1.0 TF report presentation and update from SWG Krakow F2F regarding same. There was no objection or concerns heard. And as mentioned in trailing email this request is for 1.X i.e. may be 1.0 or future Spec. We should not overlook at some experimental features in IoTivity that can be beneficial for ASA interop. It is part of Spec Coordination TG process to let everyone chime with interested items if any to be standardized. To add more, this step is part of preparation for upcoming OCF Members F2F meeting @ Portland. As it takes time to come up with final list and required PPTs, I have started the process now. At the F2F meeting, we agreed that the entire organization should be focused on OCF 1.0 = OIC 1.1 + ASA. Shouldn't the entire focus of IoTivity be on any features required for ASA interop? Maybe a vote similar to what occurred in SWG needs to also happen in OSWG to prioritize ASA. If a vote is not required, maybe this message needs to be communicated to the entire IoTivity team. We should be able to decide final set of new items by mid of June 2016. Proposals will go through Spec Coordination TG review process before submitting to SWG. Note - As a part of OCF 1.0 TF, it has been agreed OIC 1.1 to be base version. Anything proposed should be additive and nothing shall be modified to maintain backward compatibility with devices certified in July'16 against OIC 1.1.
