Personal feelings about kernel developers aside, mercurial requires two commands to get a new working copy, git takes one. So ease of use for who? Contributors pushing commits or downstream?
I'm going to bow out of this discussion now, because it's pretty clear that there's no real difference between the two systems if we're seriously arguing over the command lines.
