Sure. Custom groups need to be added to http://git.php.net/?p=web/wiki.git;a=blob;f=dokuwiki/conf/acl.auth.php;h=2b2c7711422cce99e018abb21b7a003b168cf06a;hb=HEAD and then you can be put into that group from the admin interface.
