I know that Zend mostly care about NTS since quite some time and that worries me a lot to bundle something that is not working well in thread safe mode. I would consider that as a stopping point. I mean, not to stop its inclusion, but to release 5.5.0 with it without optimizer working as good as APC in ts mode.
