Nevertheless, I had only a faint idea it was going to be deprecated. I
hardly ever look at the manual for the mysql_ functions because they
haven't changed for years. Re-using existing code just works. I think
you are overestimating the effect of those talks.

My PHP-usage: legacy code without any framework, drupal6, drupal7 and
regularly compiling PHP 5.3 & 5.4 for Win32 and Win64, mainly because I
need php_ffmpeg.dll to work in those PHP versions.
