It is a bad idea to add anything automatic There are CLI scripts out there runnign as cron-jobs and if you do this on Fedora/RHEL you get a mail everytime the cron is called, an d yes it is fine that there are mails with each output of cronjobs so that you get a message if there is a php error/warning
