To quote a similar discussion, more than a decade ago: 'Great applications can be created in PHP w/o OO' That's true, but who will argue about the OO addition today? Time to slightly change our vision(s) in my opinion. I'm not saying that having annotation is a dead critical feature, but it is definitively something that helps framework a lot, especially when it comes to interop, to port other solutions to PHP.
