Hi all, Is there an effort underway to move POSIX regexps to PECL? If not, should there be? We have some people freaking out (some who don't appear to know about PCRE, but some who do have codebases using ereg*). However, after reading various PHP internals meeting minutes etc I don't know whether a viable PECL extension for POSIX regexps in PHP 6 will be feasible or possible.
Either way, it would be great to be able to document this. Honestly I don't much care personally as I haven't used or recommended the POSIX regexps in PHP in many years, but it would be great if I could update the docs to say either "You'll just have to upgrade your codebase to move forward with PHP" or "You'll just have to install the PECL POSIX regexp extension to move your old codebase forward with PHP" (obviously with somewhat friendlier wording).
