I confirm there's no need for API changes. I will commit the fix as soon as is't thoroughly tested, hopefully by the end of tomorrow. Sorry for the delay, but luck isn't on my side lately. I've lost all my uncommitted changes because of a silly mistake and I had to restart from scrach. Not to mention a few other hardware failures slowing me down even more.
