I just do not see any point in adding new functions and duplicating MySQLi.
As such, adding small things that make it more
secure is a good thing. Just because the developers would like
everyone to move over to pdo_mysql or mysqli does not mean people
will or should.
Wait, so why was PHP3 support discontinued?
Just because the developers think it doesn't make sense to keep and old and outdated
thing when a new and better replacement exists is not a reason.
