I said real-life NEED, as in, "I can't do X in a clean/decent way without a closure" Wanting to write obfuscated natural-language-looking code is not a NEED. :-) :-) :-) The only programmers I ever met in 25 years who NEEDED closures were AI Researchers (and I was one). And, yes, there IS a need for them in that kind of work.
