Hello, As you may have noticed, the filter extension has been greatly improved and a new release has been done yesterday. The additions and changes discussed (1) in the past weeks have been integrated. I hope the API is getting more useable and stable.
The extension is enabled by default and its code will be used in each single query (it registers sapi filter). It's the first reason why it is very important to test it now and report all issues before 5.2.0. One problem affecting the magic quotes has been already solved by Ilia. Please post your feedback here, in the pecl-dev list or in the bugs trackers. If you cannot test it within 5.2.0RC3 but has a 5.1.x test platform, please install it using the PECL command: $ pecl install filter-0.10.0 or with the classic phpize.
