It makes little sense as it is not enable by default. A visible entry in the NEWS and Changelog should be enough. Note that it is exactly what I proposed to solve the date class problem, but it is hopeless.
In fact if we could come up with a list of class names php wants to reserve for itself then we could make them all raise notices so that people have time to fix their code.
