Other routes: Convince the webhosts it's 100% backwards-compatible, and easy to upgrade, and provides better resource management so they can cram in more users and make more money. Provide white-papers, stats, and testimonials on the ease of upgrading. Point to needed features in PHP5. SOAP is the one that made a convert of me, if that helps :-) It also helps that PHP 5 is as, what?, 5.2 now??? Talking about PHP 6 will push some into PHP 5 as well, as they know they don't want to be TOO far behind.
