You do not like it, use --disable-pear. Seriously, we have to keep BC with php4. We cannot maintain 2 branches of this app. A solution for php5 only will come in time, and will be ready for php6 as well (from a UC point of view). So now I think it is time to stop shooting at pear and at Greg.
