    Like you said, the unicode PHP version is not gonna be released for a quite
    some time. But I'd really want to see some improvements and cleanups done
    before that and not wait another 2 years for that.

    The other option is to fork PHP of course. Or maintain my own version
    of it, but both of those are not gonna be good for PHP in the long run.
    (If I'm forced to maintain my own PHP version, I won't have the energy
    to continue working with the "real" PHP..forking is another story)
