Ok, so I propose I'll make a breanch PHP_4_4 next week where we can 
commit those patches too. It seems with the reference patch and the 
stristr patch that I did today it seems all working just fine.

I can definitely put time in making sure this branch is as stable as we 
want, before we release. I can also be RM - glad to do it.
