I'm surprised at your email as the main design of PDO has been clear for sometime, although I think lacking documentation has led to it being too hard to understand *exactly* how it works (functionality wise), especially the DB specific functionality. (no not trying to hint about the docs again but phpDocGen is nice :)
I read through some of the source code and it's not that easy to puzzle the interface together from that, although Wez's PDO presentation and OTN articles give a very good overview of it.
Anyway, I think in all fairness to the guys who worked on PDO, try and explain your problems as soon as possible.
