I feel like this mailing list is mainly a thing that works for people who have been using it a while and have everything set up the way it works for them. Maybe I'm wrong, I just don't consider the nature of mailing lists very accessible nor user friendly. In the end it seems to work for the current core contributors, not sure if it works for future core contributors.
