Guys,

I suggest we stop this thread now. It's just taking up time we could use to more fruitfully in improving PHP. Please move any further rants off the internals mailing list and keep them personal.
I do think that if there are some concrete suggestions to be heard that's fine, but try and keep it short, to the point, and constructive.
Personally, I agree that the "Fix it yourself" argument is not a good one and isn't always relevant, but if you'd look not at what developers say after you piss them off with such emails, but how the PHP development team has worked in real life, then the general PHP community is thought of, and actually some of those ugly weird inconsistencies are there exactly as not to make their life miserable.
