I don't think you do. Even if a project stays neutral on most topics does not mean there is not a threshold where joining a wide-spread appeal or sign of solidarity is the right thing to do. The question where you set that threshold is a different question. Personally I'd support a banner on the website but won't hold it against people who think otherwise.
