Just to note, although prior versions of ZS were very slow (especially in Win32), that doesn't mean the current version is (that review you linked was reviewing a year+ old version). I recently upgraded to the latest edition (3.5.1) and can say the speed has improved immensely where there is no noticeable delay anywhere in the program. I haven't tested it much on Win32 (I use Linux by choice), but it even seems to be much faster there as well. I would check it out if I were you.
