We are almost there. There are still a few engine issues Zeev and I want to resolve so I think the best guess for RC1 is in the next week to 10 days. We just commited some needed fixes for the interfaces.
In general, people should still go with the feature-freeze until we release PHP 5 and I urge extension maintainers who have outstanding bugs to attack them :)
