Is there any reason spl is being maintained in a separate tree? It would really be nice to have it in the main distribution before the next beta. It keeps popping up on Zeev's slides, but isn't easily available for end-users looking to try it out. It might also help getting it's final API tacked down.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by SPL. We had long discussions with Marcus and decided that for PHP 5 iterators will be part of Zend (which they are) and array overloading won't be (I don't think it is extremely necessary except for internal extensions which are supported).
