I agree with you. According to the bug raised on this in 2007https://bugs.freedesktop.org/process_bug.cgi it looks like we should have interlace mode available with the latest intel-drm.
Another similar question is does Intel drivers support DTS-HD/True-HD or at least 5.1 through the HDMI? i have an external video amplicator so I want him to decode the sound and I want to pass everything transparent through HDMI to the ampli. Hopefully we get the interlace mode working and available on the basics distribs.
