Luigi, I did an equally poor job addressing your question. The deployment model for IP Parcel-capable links begins at the extreme network edges; not in the network core. The core network can continue to function as it always has with whatever link MTUs are already in place, and the OMNI link overlay will convey IP Parcels over the core using encapsulation and fragmentation. The OMNI link will span the entire core and extend outward toward the edges where Parcel-capable "last mile" links are found. Those links will indeed support larger MTUs (e.g., 4MB) and are subject to examination by the Parcel Path Qualification procedure.
