OS: Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS (LXDE desktop)

Gnus v5.13

GNU Emacs 30.0.92 (build 2, x86_64-pc-linux-gnu, X toolkit, cairo
version 1.18.0, Xaw scroll bars) of 2024-12-05

I don't really understand what is happening to make the error message
below every time I start gnus.

,----
| movemail: mailbox `/home/reader/.emacs-mail-crash-box': cannot lock:
| Conflict with previous locker (1 return).
`----
Note; [Whether] I press 'Y' or 'N', gnus finishes the startup
normally.

   ls -al .emacs-mail-crash-box.lock
  -rw-r--r-- 1 reader nfsu 0 Feb 15 21:25 .emacs-mail-crash-box.lock

Removing that file only helps the current instance of gnus. If I
close down gnus and restart it some time later the same thing occurs
again.

Sounds like something else is trying to lock this file too.

Any one seen this and get something better to explain what it means, than the
brain slop I get?
