The manual shows an example with a name and a different address: http://gnus.org/manual/gnus_210.html#SEC210 I don't know what Gijs has misconfigured; his settings look fine to me. Maybe it's the way he set up the servers. Gijs, if this is still a problem, send us the relevant lines from your newsrc file and from your gnus.el file.
