Hello, I am pleased to announce the release of GCIDE version 0.51. GCIDE is GNU Collaborative International Dictionary of English, based on Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary with additions from WordNet, proof-read and supplemented by volunteers from around the world. The dictionary was originally created by Patrick J. Cassidy.
GCIDE has been around in GNU for quite some time, but was not paid enough attention partly because its extensive markup rendered it hard to read and there was no way to view and search for words in it. This state of things is now changed. This version is released simultaneosly with GNU Dico, which provides a loadable module for handling GCIDE in dictionary servers and a standalone program which allows users to browse a local copy of it. The GCIDE home page <http://gcide.gnu.org.ua> provides a lookup facility and allows users to consult the dictionary online. GCIDE is available for download from ftp.gnu.org, and (after a short while) from its mirrors around the world. Here are the compressed sources: ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/gcide/gcide-0.51.tar.gz (18M) ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/gcide/gcide-0.51.tar.xz (14M) Here are the GPG detached signatures: ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/gcide/gcide-0.51.tar.gz.sig ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/gcide/gcide-0.51.tar.xz.sig You can use either of the above files to verify that the corresponding file (without the .sig suffix) is intact. First, be sure to download both the .sig file and the corresponding archive. Then, run a command like this: gpg --verify gcide-0.51.tar.gz.sig If that command fails because you don't have the required public key, then run this command to import it: gpg --keyserver keys.gnupg.net --recv-keys 55D0C732 Here are the MD5 and SHA1 checksums: de9737306dc9ac3a651d708525a1a8dc gcide-0.51.tar.gz e4050e5b14af6485fd19bb87b7151a47 gcide-0.51.tar.xz 384f01a4b73f23c466592bc990a8df2d65dd3c42 gcide-0.51.tar.gz abd5e4863dcbd9f39a08e475182855e5995fcd04 gcide-0.51.tar.xz Regards, Sergey _______________________________________________ GNU Announcement mailing list <info-gnu@gnu.org> https://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/info-gnu
