As part of the releasing of version 3 of the GNU General Public License, GNU sed has been upgraded to the new license. To this end, two new packages will be uploaded on the GNU FTP servers as soon as the license will be published officially.

GNU sed 4.1.6 is a relicensed repackaging of version 4.1.5, and will be available from

   ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/sed/sed-4.1.6.tar.gz

GNU sed 4.1d is the final release candidate for the upcoming version 4.2. It will be available from

   ftp://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/sed/sed-4.1d.tar.gz

and it incorporates these changes from version 4.1c:

* fixed bug in 'i\', which yielded a segmentation violation if given alone.

* 0,/REGEXP/ is rejected in --posix mode.

Due to the exceptionality of this event, the CVS and Arch repositories for sed might not include the changes in the new releases until later in the weekend.
