I am pleased to annouce the release of GNU mcron 1.0.2. It is available from
ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/mcron, and documented at
http://www.gnu.org/software/mcron.
The GNU package mcron is a 100% compatible replacement for Vixie cron. It is
written in Guile, and allows configuration files to be written in scheme (as
well as Vixie's original format) for infinite flexibility in specifying when
jobs should be run.
This release
- fixes some minor bugs;
- allows mcron to be installed and used by a non-root user (but without full
Vixie compatibility);
- makes mcron behave better on a laptop when it awakes from sleep mode (missed
jobs are run exactly once on awakening; note, however, that full anachronistic
behaviour, i.e. when a machine is switched off, is not implemented);
- and there are improvements in the manual.
Thanks are due to David D. Smith for making many suggestions for improvements to
the source code.
