The only problem you might have with "on the road" is that ISP's tend to block outbound port 25 access, and rightly so, to avoid worm/virus/spam propagation. I got around that by setting up an alternate SMTP port which is different from the default of 25 (like 1025, or 2025, etc..) which ONLY does SMTP AUTH relay.
RFC 2476 defines port 587 as a message submission port for such occasions.
