POP3 uses the CAPA command. You can just use the pop3test, imtest, smtptest, lmtptest commands, which can do SSL/TLS and authentication (SASL or otherwise)
Okay, yeah POP3 is offering STLS, so all is well except LMTP. Thanks for the replies, back to the whiteboard, hrm. :)
