limit of file descriptors

Hello !

I have installed the 2.0.15-hiersep-r2 version from Ken Murchison.
All work's fine, but in the log file i get following error message

Aug 22 10:39:12 mail master: unable to change limit of file descriptors
available

My System:
IBM R4500
2 Prozessors
SuSE Linux 7.2
Kernel 2.4.4-SMP
cyrus-sasl 1.5.24

What does this mean and how can i solve this problem?
Hope anybody can help me.
