Dear colleagues,

diplomatic and critical editions of the sixth chapter of Jinendrabuddhi's Pramāṇasamuccayaṭīkā by Motoi Ono, Yasutaka Muroya and Toshikazu Watanabe were just published in the series Sanskrit Texts from the Tibetan Autonomous Region (Austrian Academy of Sciences Press/China Tibetology Publishing House). This chapter deals with jāti, sometimes rendered as "futile rejoinder", a category in discussions of learned debate prior to Dignāga. Jinendrabuddhi's text offers insights into how this category was dealt with from the viewpoint of a logical theory that formed part of an overarching epistemological, not dialectical, framework and contains valuable materials for a better grounded and more precise understanding of the historical development of Indian logic at large and Buddhist logic in particular.

The volume was published in open access, supported by the Austrian Science Fund FWF.
