The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Sanskrit language courses at the introductory and intermediate level, and undergraduate content courses, taught in English, on allied topics in South Asian humanities, such as cultural history, religions (including early Buddhism), philosophy, or Yoga studies. We are especially interested in candidates with experience in/promise for integrating innovative pedagogies, including flexible and/or online learning, into the curriculum. A PhD in Sanskrit or a closely related field is required; ABDs are welcome to apply. This is a full-time position for an initial term of 3 years, including a probationary first year. Lecturer positions at UBC are appointments without review (i.e. non-tenure track), renewable for successive terms, subject to availability of funds and demonstration of excellence in teaching and service, in accordance with the Collective Agreement between UBC and the UBC Faculty Association.
