Dear Sir *Ficus lacor* has not reported from Tamil Nadu in India; distributed in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, MP, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. As per Flora of India the species (*Ficus virens*) is variable in many morphological characters and *Ficus virens *var. *matthewii* Chantaras, (2013), receptacles are glabrous, puberulous or white-tomentose, and is treated as a synonym of *Ficus virens*. So, this should be *Ficus virens*. We can safely overrule F. rumphii - the leaf shape is that of *F. religiosa* OR *F. arnottiana*. I wanted to know whether the posted plant could be *Ficus lacor* Buch.-Ham..which is quite close to *F, virens* but has hairy figs. My posted plant does have slightly tomentose figs, and may develop more of hairiness as it matures and ripens. Regards.
