See uts/common/fs/devfs/*.c. Look at the function dv_shadow_node() in
devfs_subr.c and its callers.
Please note, the mini-/devices is not a public interface so please do
*not* expose it to users
and/or rely on it being stable. It may change radically or go away in a
future release.
