If your process is 64bit it does.  You can verify what instructions sets
are available to you by running isainfo:

glaga...@shire:~$ isainfo -v
64-bit amd64 applications
        sse4.2 sse4.1 ssse3 popcnt tscp cx16 mon sse3 pause sse2 sse
fxsr mmx 
        cmov amd_sysc cx8 tsc fpu 
32-bit i386 applications
        sse4.2 sse4.1 ssse3 popcnt tscp ahf cx16 mon sse3 pause sse2 sse
fxsr 
        mmx cmov sep cx8 tsc fpu 

This is from my Nehalem system.  It's booted under the 64-bit kernel and
supports 64-bit applications.
